ICC Switzerland: Global Conflicts and Humanitarian Challenges - Which Role can Business play?

From June 26, 2019 until June 26, 2019

Organizer: ICC Switzerland

At the Annual Assembly 2019 the Centenary Celebrations of the International Chamber of Commerce will discuss the contributions business can bring to humanitarian challenges in conflicts and disasters. What does this objective mean today?

The International Committee of the Red Cross ICRC is the only humanitarian organization expressly mandated by the community of States to assist and protect all those affected by conflict and to promote compliance with international humanitarian law. Since the late 1990ies, ICRC expanded its network by engaging with the private sector in fields such as the exchange of expertise and know-how or the diversification of funding sources. This is why the ICRC has established the Corporate Support Group.

The guest of honour, Mr Yves Daccord, will focus on this cooperation and give his view on the latest developments. The following discussion with the audience will further explore the business dilemmas and possible contributions in such challenging situations.

It will be an occasion to get an overview on the activities of ICC in general, and to look ahead. The assembly is open to representatives of members of ICC Switzerland and delegates in general but non-members are also welcome to participate.

Registration is compulsory until 21st June 2019.
