The Pre-evening dialogues offer short inputs on specific topics and provide food for thought. They serve as a GCNSL dialogue platform to exchange ideas, experiences and suggestions.

Cobalt Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) in the DRC: A vision for successful co-existence between large and small scale mining

As a major copper and cobalt miner in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Glencore publicly recognises the importance of sustainable co-existence of ASM and large-scale mining as distinct yet complimentary sectors of a successful mining industry.

The company believes, that legal ASM can play an important role in the DRC economy when carried out responsibly and transparently. David Brocas, lead cobalt trader and Anne-Marie Fleury, responsible sourcing specialist, will present the approach.

We will have the occasion to ask constructive-critical questions and learn more about the challenges and opportunities.
