À propos de l'événement
The UN Working Group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises (Working Group) invites you to participate in an expert consultation on: “Respecting the Human Rights of LGBTI people in Business Operations”, which will take place in virtual format on 23 May 2024 from 16.00 to 18.00 CET.
The expert consultation is part of a series of regional consultations that the Working Group is organizing to gather valuable insights and perspectives on respecting the rights of LGBTI people in the context of business activities: fulfilling obligations and responsibilities under the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). Additional consultations are being organized at the global and regional levels with key stakeholders. The outcomes of these consultations will contribute to the Working Group’s report to the 79th session of the General Assembly in October 2024. For further information about this report, please refer to the Call for Inputs.
The consultation is designed as a roundtable discussion with States, businesses, members of the academia, as well as civil society and worker organisations’ representatives. In order to foster dynamic in-depth exchange among a limited number of experts and practitioners, participation is by invitation only. The discussions will help inform the Working Group’s report to the General Assembly, but remarks and information given in the meeting will not be attributed to specific participants or organizations (“Chatham House rule”).
Participants are invited to register by 10 May 2024. Registered participants will receive ahead of the meeting some of the key draft findings and recommendations of the report.
Should you require any further information about the preparation of the Working Group’s report, please contact Krizel Patolot Malabanan and Alexia Ghyoot, Human Rights Officers at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, at hrc-wg-business@un.org.
