Enriching, as it provided a valuable opportunity to gain insights into different industries and companies. Grounding, because we are all facing similar challenges when it comes to e. g. complying with new regulations and incorporating sustainability into operations. And inspiring for two main reasons; firstly, the group discussions invoked my creative energy by encouraging alternative approaches to the challenges at hand; secondly, the 8-step methodology facilitated my reflection on previously set goals to enhance our corporate impact in the future. The statement is a standardized template that is signed electronically. CoP Questionnaire and/or Sustainability Report Reporting on corporate action and performance related to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals. *For the 2026 reporting year, a sustainability report uploaded through the digital platform can still be submitted in lieu of the CoP Questionnaire. - SDGs| UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein
We support companies in the implementation of the SDGs through various formats such as e-learning, tools, and training programmes. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS In 2015, all 193 member states of the United Nations adopted a plan for achieving a better future for all — a total of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs characterize the sustainability debate at national and international levels. As a global goals system, the SDGs provide a common language and a compass for the challenges of the 21st century. The implementation target year for these is 2030. In addition to the commitment of politicians and civil society, the business community is also required to master these challenges. The private sector plays an enormous role in tackling these global challenges. Companies must increasingly leverage their resources to advance the SDGs. There are only a few years left to implement the 2030 Agenda. In view of the slow progress to date, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for a ‘Decade of Action’ at the beginning of 2020 and mandated the UN Global Compact to mobilize the business community. The UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein is responding to this call by supporting companies in the interpretation and implementation of the SDGs through various formats such as e-learning, tools, and training programmes. - Biodiversity & Nature | UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein
Access resources and exchange opportunities to address biodiversity challenges. Biodiversity & Nature Everyone on the planet is dependent on ecosystem services, from the food we eat to the water we drink and the air we breathe. Biodiversity forms the basis of our social and economic well-being, yet a triple planetary crisis - that of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution - is raging. Due to human activities, six out of the nine planetary boundaries have already been transgressed, leading to an unprecedented rate of ecosystem deterioration and putting 1 million species at risk of extinction . Biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse now rank as the second-largest long-term risks for businesses . Humanity is waking up to this problem. In the words of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, “we must end the merciless, relentless, and senseless war on nature”. Companies play an important dual role when it comes to biodiversity: on the one hand, many companies and economic sectors are dependent on the conservation of biodiversity. On the other hand, they can protect and preserve this basis of life by acting responsibly. European regulations and standards (e.g. CSRD, Taxonomy or CSDDD) and global agreements such as the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) set a clear path to a world living in harmony with nature by 2050, with specific expectations for business. Companies need to transform their business models, starting with assessing their impacts and dependencies on nature, and implementing credible nature strategies that will provide co-benefits for climate, biodiversity, and society. This transformation could create $10.1 trillion of annual business opportunities and 395 million jobs by 2030 . - Living Wages | UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein
We offer you initial starting points, support, and guidance on the topic of living wage. Living Wages Through their commitment to living wages, companies can enable workers worldwide to enjoy a decent standard of living. Labour poverty caused by low wages is a global problem and is widespread in different sectors. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), in 2019, more than 630 million workers worldwide - almost one in five, or 19 percent of all employees - did not earn enough to lift themselves and their families out of extreme or moderate poverty. Companies can use their influence along their supply and value chains to advocate for living wages across all sectors and enable a decent standard of living for workers worldwide. In addition to making an important social contribution, living wages also represent an investment in core businesses, value chains, and the broader operating environment for many companies. They also enable companies to fulfill their human rights obligations better. This is because legislation is increasingly demanding that companies pay decent wages. Benefit from the many resources provided by the UN Global Compact to advance your living wage efforts. - Child Labour | UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein
We offer you initial starting points, support, and guidance on child labour topics. Child Labour At the beginning of 2020, 160 million children were still subject to child labour . Child labour is a form of exploitation that is a violation of a human right and it is recognized and defined by international instruments. It is the declared policy of the international community and of almost all Governments to abolish child labour. Child labour is damaging to a child’s physical, social, mental, psychological and spiritual development because it is work performed at too early an age and deprives children of their childhood as well as their dignity. They are deprived of an education and may be separated from their families. Children who do not complete their primary education are likely to remain illiterate and never acquire the skills needed to get a job and contribute to the development of a modern economy. Consequently, child labour results in under-skilled, unqualified workers and jeopardizes future improvements of skills in the workforce. Central to this is our call to companies to step up their due diligence on human rights and to identify, prevent, mitigate and account for all adverse human rights impacts in their operations and value chains, which will help tackle child labour and forced labour. Making a real impact will require adopting a holistic approach and collaborating with all stakeholders. Developing awareness and understanding of the causes and consequences of child labour is the first step that a company can take toward action against child labour. This means identifying the issues and determining whether or not child labour is a problem within the business. Companies sourcing in specific industry sectors with geographically distant supply chains need to be particularly vigilant. However, child labour also exists less visibly in developed, industrialized countries where it occurs, for example, in some immigrant communities. The UN Global Compact supports companies of all sizes and from all sectors to take specific actions that contribute to ending child labour in their operations and supply chains. - SOCIAL | UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein
The business community has a responsibility to uphold human rights and labour standards both in the workplace and more broadly along its entire value chain Human Rights The idea of human rights is as simple as it is powerful: That all people have a right to be treated with dignity. Businesses often impact the human rights of their employees and contract workers, workers in their supply chains, the communities around their operations and even the end users of their products or services. Whether directly or indirectly, they impact virtually the entire spectrum of internationally recognized human rights. As a result, companies have both a responsibility and an opportunity to advance human rights across operations, supply chains and beyond. Is your company able to know and show that it supports and respects the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights, and that it is not complicit in human rights abuses? - Climate | UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein
Access a wide range of e-learning, recordings, tools, training programmes & exchange opportunities to drive climate action forward. Climate Global emissions are at their highest level in human history and continue to rise. Today, climate change is impacting economies, supply chains and communities around the globe, with the most vulnerable populations at the frontlines of the crisis. The good news is that we still have time to act. The environmental principles of the UN Global Compact provide an entry point for business to address key environmental challenges. They apply to areas such as research, innovation, co-operation, education, and self-regulation. These principles can positively influence the large negative effects of human activity on the environment, such as environmental degradation, and damage to the planet’s life support systems. Companies need to focus their efforts on deep decarbonization, reaching net-zero by 2050 at the latest. At the same time, companies must anchor their sustainability practices in a rights- and principles-based approach and ensure that their mitigation and adaptation measures do not deepen inequalities but contribute to climate justice through a just transition. The private sector has never been better equipped to tackle the climate emergency.
