Non-Business Participation Non-business organisations such as academic institutions, business associations, cities/municipalities, civil society organisations/non-governmental organisations, labour unions and public sector organisations are eligible to join the UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein if: They provide clear value to our business participants or there is potential for collaboration They are willing to demonstrate their continued engagement by submitting the required Communication on Engagement (CoE) every two years They actively engage in our activities* *Please note that the UN Global Compact is primarily a private sector initiative. Thus, there may be activities and events that non-business participants are not able to participate in. In the network, we work closely with our non-business participants to support companies' work with the UN Global Compact's Ten Principles and the SDGs. A decision will be made on a case-by-case basis. Communication on Engagement (CoE) The CoE is a public disclosure through which participants inform stakeholders about their efforts to support the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and about their engagement in the initiative. Through the CoE participants demonstrate their commitment to promote the implementation of the Ten Principles among businesses. The CoEs of all organisations are published on the UN Global Compact website . Application process 1. Review the application handbook for a detailed overview of the joining process. 2. Complete the application form online. You will be asked to provide information about your company's highest level executive (CEO or equivalent) who will sign an automatically generated Letter of Commitment addressed to the UN Secretary-General stating your commitment to the implementation of the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, participation in the activities of the initiative where feasible and submit a biennial submission of a Communication on Engagement (COE). !     The Working Group on Sustainable Supply Chains by GCNSL and öbu was officially launched in Bern in February 2019. It provides a platform for mutual exchange of best practices and experiences within a familiar framework. Working Group Sustainable Supply Chain Management The Working Group Sustainable Supply Chain Management is a knowledge-sharing platform for Swiss production companies founded in 2019 by öbu - Swiss Business Council for Sustainable Development and the UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein. The meetings of the working group are held three times a year, either online or in person, on various sustainability topics relating to the supply chain. Before that Auret was the President and CEO of the Fair Labor Association in Washington DC from 2001 to 2013. From 1996 to 2001 he was responsible for the Special Action Programme on Social and Labour Issues in Export Processing Zones (EPZs) at the International Labour Office (ILO) in Geneva. His 40 years of experience in value chains in different sectors and countries equips him to advise clients and engage with all stakeholders to build partnerships and resolve conflicts.
