- Climate Ambition Accelerator | Global Compact Netwo
The Climate Ambition Accelerator is a six-month accelerator programme for participants/signatories of the UN Global Compact who are looking to make progress towards setting science-based emissions targets and create a clear path to address their organization’s transition to net-zero. Climate Ambition Accelerator The Climate Ambition Accelerator is a six-month hands-on program for participants of the UN Global Compact who seek to make progress in managing their greenhouse gas emissions, setting science-based emissions targets aligned with the 1.5°C pathway and creating a path to address their organization’s transition to net-zero emissions by 2050. Led by the UN Global Compact, the programme aims to foster credible climate action across companies of all sizes and sectors, enabling them to deliver on meaningful commitments to reduce emissions at scale. Through our Local Network, participating companies will gain access to global good practices, peer-to-peer learning opportunities, practical activities, capacity building sessions and on-demand training. Apply now Modules Setting the Scene Introduction to the programme, the cohort of participants and to the platform and tools used. GHG Inventory Dive deep into GHG good practices, emissions accounting methodologies and strategies, take steps to implement or improve a comprehensive GHG emissions inventory. Setting a SBT Work with the SBTi tools and resources, get a clear understanding of their approach and methodologies and identify key stakeholders and resources within the organization. Emissions Management Identify the key GHG management strategies to reduce emissions and meet the goals of your climate ambition journey. Wrap-up Compile the findings from your Accelerator journey, share learned lessons and identify next steps. Programme schedule & costs The 6-month online training programme includes a mix of on-demand sessions for independent learning, facilitated technical sessions, practical exercises, local peer-learning formats and global sessions with case studies on leading companies in climate action. Identify relevant sustainability issues and receive a high-level double materiality assessment, highlighting the most important ESG topics. AI Materiality Tool The UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein (GCNSL) has developed the AI Materiality Tool to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and beginners fast-track their sustainability efforts by focusing on areas where they can make the most significant impact. This tool helps you: Identify key sustainability issues tailored to your business, industry, and value chain. Get fast insights by answering only 17 simple questions to generate a high-level double materiality assessment highlighting the most important environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics. Align with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and the UN Global Compact Ten Principles. Map risks, impacts and opportunities to receive clear and concrete action steps. While the AI Materiality Tool is a helpful starting point, it does not replace the valuable process of conducting a full double materiality assessment. The GCNSL strongly believes that strategic stakeholder engagement is essential for long-term business success. However, given the urgency of sustainability challenges, businesses should not delay action due to budget. Who can use the tool? Discover our members Ambassadors of the UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein Participants of the UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein (GCNSL) have the opportunity to become an Ambassador of our network to support us in our mission of promoting responsible business practices and sustainability. Ambassador Companies 2023/24 term The following participants are Ambassadors of our network for the 2023/24 term: Lonza Group Ltd Kaizen Institute Ltd Become an Ambassador for 2024/25 The role As an Ambassador your company will play a vital role in promoting our network's mission, the Ten Principles and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in your region and among your stakeholders. Get involved in events, represent the country network and contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive economy in Switzerland, Liechtenstein and beyond. Benefits Direct involvement with the GCNSL Secretariat, giving you the opportunity to play an active role in promoting sustainability and the SDGs outside of your company Some scope to bring forward ideas and inputs, allowing you to share your expertise and contribute to the success of our network Exposure through our website, events, annual report, and social media as your company will be listed as an Ambassador Ambassador Criteria Ambassadors are appointed for a renewable one-year term by the Board of Directors on the proposal of the secretariat following a selection procedure. The following criteria needs to be fulfilled: Participant of the UN Global Compact for at least two years* Has submitted its Communication on Progress (CoP) in time & is up to date with the yearly membership Regularly participates in the programmes / events offered by the UN Global Compact The appointed representative of the Ambassador’s company is highly motivated, speaks fluently English and preferably the main language in the Ambassador’s region Commitment of 3 working days per year (minimum) including participation in a yearly on-boarding workshop Commitment of leading a minimum of one yearly networking event (with the support of the Secretariat) Check the Ambassador Agreement for the full criteria list and for furher information on the role. *Subsidiaries are accepted depending on their level of participation and engagement in our activities.
